Potato FAQ's

Q1 – Would you expect to get the same results with the same varieties grown in open ground outdoors?
A1 – Its impossible to predict what would happen if planted in open ground – outdoor soil conditions might favour certain varieties.

Q2 – Should we forget about most of the varieties apart from Swift and Wilja?
A2 – No. We will need to repeat the test another season to confirm or change the conclusions from this single trial. All of the varieties would be worth retesting, especially Casablanca and Novella.

Q3 – What about all the other first early varieties now available in the catalogues (Jan 2013)?
A3 – It would be interesting to compare all the available varieties – something else to look at later.

Q4 – Yield is not the only factor. What about the taste?
A4 – Although the trial produced good samples for comparative tasting we were unable to conduct a proper taste (and texture?) test. Again something to look at in due course.
